How does the Church confront the phenomenon of no identified flying objects?

The Vatican spokesman for knowledge about extraterrestrials had Msgr. Corrado Balducci, who died some years ago.

He has always claimed that aliens exist and that the Bible knew them without any doubt. In an interview he stated clearly: Do not believe in UFOs and the presence of other living beings is a sin [sic]. Their existence is not only proven to be about a million testimonies, including those of many atheists scientists, but is also confirmed by some passages of Scripture that in some points clarifying the presence of extraterrestrials.

He added: Psalm 23 reads: “The Lord’s is the earth, the universe and its inhabitants.” Now, because the psalmist wanted, after quoting the Earth, also remember the universe with “his people”? This means that the presence of other living beings is certain. Even theology agrees with this thesis.

An exegete, Father Aristide Serra, a professor at the Marianum University of Rome, specified that in the Bible, “the presence of other inhabited worlds is given by implicit and obvious”. Some theologians then recall two quotations related to the same conviction: The first from Psalm 95, which in verse II states: “Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth rejoice”; . the second is in the Gospel of John, in which it is written (Jn 10:16): “And I have other sheep that do not give this enclosure; even those I must lead ». Cardinal Niccolò Cusano, philosopher and scientist who lived in the fifteenth century, said: “There is no star from which we are authorized to exclude the existence of beings, even if different from us.

Father Angelo Secchi, a Jesuit and astronomer who died in 1876, wrote: It is absurd to consider the worlds that surround us like huge uninhabited deserts and search for the meaning of our universe in our small world inhabited. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who asked him one day if aliens really existed, he replied: The omnipotence of God is not limited to only one planet Earth. In other planets there are beings and other beings who have no sin like us and who pray to God.

The Rev. Dessauer of Monaco, participating in a conference of theologians and sociologists said that the Earth is the subject of attention by intelligent beings from other planets. The men must prepare for the encounter with these beings. The Jesuit astronomer José Luis Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory, explicitly declares its firm belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life and also states that one day we will meet the aliens as “brothers.”

Not by chance in November of 2009, at the Casina Pio IV in the week of studies “Astrobiology” promoted by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, the eighth working session was titled “Intelligence elsewhere and shadow life” and was responsible hypotheses about the existence of sentient life forms on other worlds, and the possibility of the presence of life forms other than our own in our world! The same Father Funes said that questions concerning the origin of life and its existence elsewhere in the universe, are “very interesting” and deserve serious consideration, and that “these questions have many philosophical and theological implications. ».

We are fully convinced of the merits of Father Funes statements and Msgr. Balducci and, compared to the just Psalm 23 quoted by the latter, this book provided much wider and documented evidence that the Bible really knew extraterrestrials! In short, we think that the encounter with the “brothers” aliens predicted by the astronomer Funes and the Reverend most likely Dessauer has already happened and the Bible has given us account.

So even the Church – albeit quietly and without giving any emphasis on his statements. – he recognized that the Bible was familiar with extraterrestrials.

It would be desirable now that would make the next step, namely giving up forcibly spiritualist vision and try to read the Bible for what it is: a history book (of course written with the cultural and linguistic categories of time.)! But, waiting for this to happen – and that theology becomes a branch of astrophysics. – a question arises imperative:

If the God traditionally considered as the source of the Judeo-Christian religious thought turns out to be in reality nothing more than an individual (or a group of individuals in the flesh that shaped the man in their own image and likeness) where does the ‘inspiration of the texts on which it came to the whole of Western religion? In other words: On what basis is thus born on Christianity?
